Need some advice about Rockauto.
Ok so i decided to purchase some new suspension parts for my 2GS.. Decided to hit up MOOG from everyone's raving reviews about them here. No problem yea?
Parts in question: Outter Tie Rods
i received my parts and notice upon opening that one box had a (555) Tie rod and the other one is MOOG with releasable fitting. I double checked the box and yea they are the same SKU just off by 1 number (left and right side models) so thats ok... See pic

After seeing this i email Rockauto regarding this to see if i can get a replacement part since they arnt matching -_-... They call me back a few days later and practically told me they are matching parts and that if i wanted to get matching parts i would have to BUY another one and PAY for that shipping and they will cover shipment back of the other part.. Now im thinking why would i have to pay for shipping again for something i didnt do?
"Shawn" or however u spell his name (rockauto caller) said thats the best he could do and that its "more than reasonable" if i were to buy another one, cover that shipment, and then have them have a tag to send it back to me. Obviously the caller was studdering when talking to me on the phone and would have the long awkward silent pauses. Good customer service i see.
i even asked if it was really hard to just open the box and visually check to confirm everything is matching and "Shawn" said "we dont do that"
now what do you guys think? The part that aggravates me is that they want me to pay more to have matching parts.. or at least hope that its matching since Shawn said they cant guarantee that it will match what i have

if hte part number was correct but the parts in it were wrong, why not try giving MOOG a call?
i know Rockauto COULD eat up the shipping and have a lifetime customer, but those cases are very rare in 2012..

Rockauto ships from many warehouses and ship 10's of 1000's of parts everyday. So I would say it is understandable that they can't hand pick and check individual parts for every situation..
Unfortunately this is the case, but their very competitive pricing, massive instock inventories, and speed of shipping directly reflects the loss of some of the personal attention single small purchases may need.
NAPA sells MOOG and stocks huge amounts of it at their hub locations. So sometimes if it is desired to see an item in person it may be worth the few extra dollars it will cost over rockauto and you can return with no shipping and see parts before buying them.

Sorry to hear you issue. I've ordered a lot of items from them and I never had a issue. I even ordered this part from them also and I had the 555 outer matching pair. I don't think my outer tie rods had zerk grease fittings, but I know that my MOOG lbj's did.
yea errors happen which im perfectly cool with. The only issue i have is that if i want to CORRECT the error (get matching sets) i would have to pay up to do so............. which is 100% horrible especially since i didnt do anything wrong. Thats the whole issue i have.

Does both boxes say "Asia-Spec"? That may be why they are different. If both boxes don't say that, I would contact Rockauto and ask why they sent two different products eventhough the SKU"s match.
One should be part number 500101 and the other 500102 with 555 stamped on them correct? I'm about to order these also...Also I need a lca cause my bushing is shot, does moog sell a lca with the ball joint attached or do I have to buy them all separate?
