Default 99 gs300 strange knocking Need help

Hey guys I am having a very disappointing time with my 2j. I have a strange knocking up top of the motor and its driving me nuts. I am seriously pressing for time which i need this car running before my brothers baby shower and right now i am stuck like chuck. Now i read another post which this guy is having the same issue as i am and their was no solution to his problem. so I am needing you guys opinion to help me get on the road soon. i do have the links that he posted to give you a good idea.

ac on

ac off

Every bit of info is much needed and i don't have much time to keep doing research.

Thanks

Sorry to say but you might need to start saving for a new motor. Does it knock at a certain rpm range? Are you sure its not coming from the bottom of the motor? I just went through the same thing and at first could have sworn it was coming from the throttle body area later to find out it was from the bottom end. Ended up being a rod knock. Yours sound like its in the early stage. 20k miles ago mine sounded like that. It could very well be a pulley or something lose bit I'm just sharing my experience. I just got a newer motor put in 2 weeks ago.

hmm i was told it was a rod knock as well i did actually use a stethoscope and pointed directly near the oil pan and sure enough it was coming down in that area. but i wasn't for sure that it had to be that so i asked for another opinion from a buddy of mine and he thinks the oil pump is going out. he states that when you turn the ac on it would make the oil pump work twice that much harder to circulate the oil through. i will definitely keep your experience in mind as well. one thing to add is that i also had oil consumption right after 3k miles as well which could possibly as well be a sign to oil pump going out. thanks for your help need more inputs to get this thing back on the road.

^^^yep, same thing as mine. I drove mine until it got very bad and started to consume almost a quart every 1.5 weeks then the knock eventually got very loud, enough to the point where it would be a disturbance to the public if i drove it. I just gave in and bought a newer used motor. I had 202k on my old motor.
