Some interesting news...I was told by Lexus of Glendale Service Rep. that Lexus has an updated GS headlight and will be replacing one of mine with it. If everything goes well I will try to get them to replace the passenger one just in case.

It is being installed today so I will get it back maybe tomorrow. Got an IS as a loaner...and already miss my GS.

I have the same issue with my GS4 - each dealer I've gone to says the same thing - "It happens". To me, it shouldn't happen. I haven't done anything to try to remedy it. Can't figure out why it would be there in any weather - regardless if it's hot or cold. Makes no sense to me!

Another update, the following is a summary of what the shop foreman told me:

--During Lexus service conference call the condensation problem was raised (not the first time) and Lexus/Toyota has said that they will need to update the headlight. However, they have been saying that.--

Now I don't know if they actually did yet...but we will see if my new headlight is sealed tight this time.

I also suspect that they are replacing way too many headlights for this problem. The foreman told me they are replacing two other GS's left headlight.

Thumbs up Headlights

For you guys that are out of warranty, try to "goodwill" angle. every dealer should have some kind of customer service plan to fix such a problem. Obviously this is an ISSUE with the GS as we have learned here. I thibk you should go and talk to the service drive manager and ask if they can help. You never know..... Might find yourself getting a new set of headlights...... they will make your car look new(from the front).

Anyone know if the Lexus Headlights are "updated" so they actually dont get moisture? I have a bad problem with my headlights and I've had it replaced before but the problem came back again and I just gave up, but now it's really annoying me.

I dont think that Lexus solved the problem. My car is 2002 and i have condensation in both of my inner headlights but not in the main ones.

For those of you who are out of warranty, their is 1 option. For about 500 bucks you can get both the drivers and passengers headlight shells "no components" The GS430 and GS400 light assemblies are identical in size, and just a few cosmetic changes. By getting the shells, you can swap out the guts from your old lights into the new lights. Everything works beautifully, including the autoleveling feature. Just giving another option if your warranty has exceeded.

I went to the dealer the other day and saw a brand new 2003 GS with condensation in the headlight. It's not even off the lot and already has a problem. I guess the new headlight design didn't work too well either.

I have a 98 GS4 and after 4 years of driving, I didn't have any problems. Then, I replaced my lights with newer ones because the old ones were scratched, hazy, and pitted. 4 months later, and both of the new headlights have condensation now.
Soooo, maybe its only the newer lights that have this problem or lights that were previously removed from the car due to bodywork or mods...

I didn't remove the entire bumper, I just loosened all the screws from the side and the front and kind of "pulled them out" I didn't rig the job or anything and despite what some people have said, this is the correct way to do it. By removing the bumper, you'll just waste more time and risk scratching your car even more.
Overall, the job is easy if you're doing it on someone else's car, but if its your baby and you want everything to line up absolutely perfect, its a pain and could take half a day or more.

Hmmm. I think I will leave it up to the dealer. Sounds like a pain.

If you want it done right, and you want everything to line up nice, dont expect it from the dealer. They will rush the job and slap it together. Even if my car was under warranty and labor was included, I would take the lights, say thank you, and install them myself.

You are right, I have always lived by the saying "if you want something done right do it yourself." However, as I am sure you know there is NO WAY the dealer will give me the parts and allow me to install them myself. Also, my dealer has always taken excellent care of my car while it has been in their possession.
