2000 GS300 Engine Shaking; Need Opinions Please
Hello everyone I am a new user in the forum here. Been lurking around reading repair threads and learned a lot of great information about my car. I've been having some trouble recently, and wanted to see if some of the forumers here could help me out with it.
It is a 2000 GS300 and I have 180k miles on it.
Recently, while sitting at a red light, my engine (the whole car itself, really) began violently shaking, but did not die. I turned off engine and restarted - CEL and VSC/VSC off lights turned on.
A quick code check that day revealed no problems?! So I reset the lights. Two weeks later, the same engine shaking occurred at a red light. This time the engine shook itself to death. So I turned it off then turned it back on again. The engine started, but when I pressed the accelerator, nothing happened. I turned the engine off again, and when i started it this time I pumped the accelerator - thank god the engine started.
However, it rumbled and shook everytime I slowed down, and almost shook itself dead at every stop light until i got home.
Another code check showed i have o2 sensor problems. Also, the codes did not read lean or rich.
SO - What should I do?!
(besides replacing the sensors obviously)
I see a lot of times its not actually the o2 sensor problems.
I'm just wondering if there is anything else you guys think I should check out?
Also, just to throw a curveball in here for anyone to answer - I noticed the little metal flap inside of the gas tank opening where you put in the gas pump nozzle is missing - I think it broke off and is swimming around somewhere inside my car.
Could this missing piece be affecting anything?
Also, do i need to drop the tank and fish around inside of it for that little metal piece?
Thanks and sorry for the long post.
Much appreciation in advance

Were there other CEL Codes? Does the Check Engine light blink as well? I don't recall having the metal flap on on mine, I don't remember seeing it in the past. I'm getting a P300 abd P304 codes on my 99 GS with 222,000 miles on it.
