Lexus GS300 horriable horsepower
I don't understand why they keep going with such low horespower. The new GS330 is going to be about 240 horespower. Thats not that much I mean sometimes I think I could have saved a Lot of money and got an Infinti G35 or an Acura Type S. I mean those to cars alone would burn my GS300 in a second and they are a lot cheapter. I just don't understand why Lexus doesn't give the car a lot more horsepower. I mean even the new Altima has more power then my GS300 and thats sad. Does anyone feel this way?

If youre so upset with the HP get yourself the Nissan or Acura.
Every car has their pluses and minuses. It just depends what you want out of your car.
If you are so worried about getting burned and paying less money, then get a Cobra or Camaro, those two will burn your Hondas and Nissans and also cost much less.

There are reasons the Altima (and others) cost less. Quality of construction & materials, fit and finish, etc. IMO if you don't like your auto because it doesn't have enough horsepower, you made a mistake should have bought a different car. That's why I have a GS400 and not a GS300.

and i could get a new civic and toss a turbo on it and for under 20k smoke all those cars. what is your point? The GS 300 and 430 do the job just fine, these are cars that have CLASS and still remain sporty

I kind of agree with everyone..even purebliss.
One hand the GS300 which is what the 'basic' model of the GS series, should have a little more to it. What's the 0-60? 8 secs? (7.8 to be exact ) To me for a performance/luxury/sport sedan that doesn't cut it. At least get something around 7.5 or 7.0 o the 0-60 times.
And I know, 0-60 doesn't make everything..
I'd choose GS400 or 430 IMHO.

The 300 vs 400 argument is valid until you start talking serious power. Currently, there are a VERY few supercharged GS400s and some planned turbocharged ones but RIGHT NOW you can buy a turbosystem for the 300 that will give more power than most supercharged 400s have. The SRT turbo 400/430s will offer more but will be MUCH more $$$.
So, for now anyway, the 300 is king for max street power in the 300-400 argument.

It just felt pretty stupid to pay over 10,000 more for a GS430. Because it is the same as the GS300. The only thing that is different is the engine. I mean if you see it on street you wouldn't know which is which. Even the inside. I just feel it was crazy to pay that much for a car that doesn't even look different then the 300. I guess that explains why they don't sell that many. If I am going to pay 10,000 more for v8 thats nuts. Its not even that much of a performance engine. I mean if I was really was looking for a performance car and was going to pay as much as a GS430 I would have gotten the M3 or M5. I mean for the price of a GS430 you can have a LS430. At least thats a different class all toghter. Thats Lexus's top of the line.I just feel it would be crazy to pay that much for a car that doesn't even look different then the 300.

still you are looking at the cars in a totally different way. the gs430 and the gs300 looks pretty much the same, but if you are looking for performance that's all under the hood, not outside. personally i don't mind people not understanding the power under my gs4 until they got smoked. and fyi, if you also look at mb and bmw, their v8 models are always at least 10k more than the v6 models. that's basically the price you pay for v8 over v6, nuff said. and also, there are lots less people getting the e430 compared to e320, and 540i compared to 530i too. same reasoning, most people look for the class and comfort, fewer people look for true performance.
m3 or m5? well the m3 is about the same price as the m5, but it's small, and it's a coupe. try to sit in the back for a 2 hrs trip and you will know how bad it is. the m5, yeah, it's cool, but ya know the OTD price is 80k? that's 25k more than the gs430. what do you get? 100hp more. oh, and unless you really know about cars it's not as easy for normal people to tell the difference between m3 and 3 series, and especially m5 from 5 series. same to 540i and e430, they look identical to their brothers.
and umm..... you sure the ls is about the same price of the gs430? that's quite wrong.... you will expect to pay 10k more for the ls430 i believe. ultimate you get what you paid for, i still stand by that. when people ask me about cars i answer them differently. people like me i tell them to get gs400/430. my uncle comes and ask me i tell him to get gs300

hey
If it's power ya want get a Turbo from SRT. Maybe they are still running the sale. should be like 4 or 5 g's installed.
But you may have to get in line
Lexlyf-Marken has it on his GS300 & blowing away almost everthing he's meeting up on the roads down in Maryland.
