Default Navigation problem (disc error)

I recently got a disc that is 10.1 version that is for gen 2/3 navigation. The problem is my navigation keep saying Disc not detected or Disc Error while using new disc. I switched back to original 2000 v.1 disc in, and still say the same thing.

I am very confused, Is my navigation DVD based (gen 2/3?) ? Why did my new disc fail?

Can someone please point me out in right direction on navigation issue? I really never updated the maps since now.

I've dealt with this problem a few times. My navigation worked fine for a while but then after about 5 years it would get the disc error and can't read disc. I noticed my original Nav disc had scratches at the outer edge and in the middle. I took the Navigation module apart and what I found is that it has these tiny metal points almost like a little rivet that is just below the disc. If your car suffers from the vibration it or you have a stiffer suspension, the Disc shakes around alot and basically is grinding into those tiny little metal dots. Eventually it causes the Disc Error.

Now the new version you have sounds to me like it is a burned copy. My suggestion is to buy Verbatim DVD R DL discs not the other cheaper name brands.

Next is when you go to burn, Whether you're using Imgburn or Alcohol 52% you will have to put the booktype to DVD ROM and burn it at a max rate of 2.4x nothing higher than that, the slower the better. If that is the case, after you put the new Disc in the Nav module, disconnect your negative battery terminal for about a minute then connect it again. Should work now.

DETgs430, I havent done the battery disconnect yet. I will try that tomorrow. My lexus is completely stock with worn shocks. Its running on original shocks 1489xx miles and counting. I am planning to change next year.

Sakataj, The disc are copied version but the seller bought the lexus disc from dealership. I should be recieveing that soon.
