Question Fly wheel or torque converter problom?

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2000 gs300 With 240k, its making a noise when i come to a stop, i thought it was my drive line or my transmission mount was out (it was bad and i did replace it) but got under my car and noticed that its coming from my fly wheel and also noticed it looks like something is hitting or should say rubbing on it to.

Please help

Thanks before hand

Fernando

Hello Everyone,

Don't know if I'm doing this right but wanted to let everyone to know, I Fixed my car by just replacing my fly wheel and the noise is gone. It did take me a while to get to it

Thanks

Fernando

I have 240k on my GS3. For a couple of months there has been a rattling noise that sounded similar to a rod knock. It was worse at idle and would randomly go away after the car warmed up. There was also a whirling noise occasionally. Yesterday it got really loud and at most rpms. When you take off the drive belt the noise got lower but was still there. We used a long screw driver up to our ear on different parts of the engine to try and determine the sound. We removed the plastic access cover near the flywheel. When we put a wrench on one of the bolts and moved the flywheel back and fourth and the noise was duplicated. Have many other people had this happen?

Just took out the flywheel and it's cracked all the way around. I'm not sure how it stayed together

Yea it's a trip. Hard to explain but I guess that area is a couple of pieces of metal welded together. Oh well, got hooked up for $20 from a shop who does JDM import motors and also changing out that rear main seal that has been leaking for years
