H1 is a drop in... No extensive modification to the housings (except highbeam).... And they're cheaper.

hey i was looking into using the mini h1s from the retrofitsource.com, i was wondering, was it pretty much a plug and play ordeal with no cutting required to the housing?

Essentially plug and play... but this isn't a vehicle specific kit, so there may be a few snags and what not depending on your ingenuity, skill level, and vehicle...

But if you're doing JUST the low beams, there shouldn't be extensive housing modification (the modifications are reversible if done properly).

High beams, you will need to dremel the housing to widen the bulb opening as well as shave down the protruding part... NOT reversible.

Edit: Here is the album of the few cars I've done w/ a drop-in...

I don't have any other pics than the ones I posted since it's not my car...

The best I can do is this pic of my 50w FX-R on the left versus the Quad 35w MH1 on the right...

i've got a gs300 so its basically the same housing, but i wasnt really sure if any modifications to the housing was needed if i went with the minis. but thanks for the info, i think the minis look a bit small, i might end up going with the LS460

They're the best bang for the buck... Reversible drop-in completed in a few hours versus a full on retro.

That is really good work. Nice and clean. The beam focus is really nice.
