OEM HID headlights -> NON-OEM HID headlights??
I did some searching but didnt really find the answer i was looking for so... here it goes.
I have a 98 GS400 with the OEM auto-level HID headlights. They are REALLY showing their age and despite having re-polishing them TWICE in the last year, they are still looking like crap due to all the TX heat they get. My car sits outside 24/7 so they do get quite a beating.
That being said, instead of spending a grip on buying new OEM HID headlights, can anyone tell me if its possible to buy new aftermarket NON-HID headlights and just plug them up and go? Id probably run some 4300k hid bulbs in them to keep the HID and have new housings basically, without having to spend $600 on some headlights (car is a 98, im not about to spend all that money on headlights)
Any info is appreciated, thanks!!

yes but u will get the auto leveler light inside so u could unplug the bulb from behind the cluster BUT if u add HID to a non hid housing you gonna get glare...if u looking at the EBAY angel eye lights though stay away from them they junk. search on here and you will see
why not just buy some used newer model HID lights and be done with it. from you pic the car is clean so i personally would spring for some new ones OR when u say you have polished them have you sanded them down and re-uv coated them or just did the meguires kit to them?

this is actually my second set of OEM HID headlights. Also, when i say i polished them, i did indeed do a two stage sand and re-polish and then re-clear (uv coat) them. The heat here is always bearing down on them so the tops of the headlights always end up getting really cloudy and yellow after about 6 months.

Ive had my guy wetsand, wax, buff, seal and they look brand new. I do them to all my vehicles on my dealers lot. Bodyshops can usually do it also for you. Itll look brand new and will stay like that

You can convert your Hid to non HID. Just cut your original HID wires and find a 9006 bulb Harness. 9006 bulb harness are common and easy to find. It's only 2 wires Positive and Negative.
