Hey guys, I'm a very long time lurker here, joined up when I first bought my 2003 GS430. I did some stuff to it years ago then it turned into basic transportation but I always kept up on the maintenance so it's remained in very good shape.

I recently rediscovered how much I love this car and have gotten back into working on it and improving it. So I'm back after a while away and very happy to have this place as a resource and place to share ideas and thoughts about these awesome cars. I hope to be a more active contributor going forward and was glad to see this thread. I think the original reason I drifted away form the forum was the negative posts and attacks that started popping up like crazy. Glad to see everyone is looking to move away from all that and back to a stronger sense of community and members helping members.

Glad to see this, in my former years of building Hondas/Acuras I noticed the 2GS forum heading that way which is why I have been off of it. Hate to compare it to that but that's how it felt. And a bad purchase on here soured it too.

Thumbs up Timely Words of Wisdom

I'm new to this forum, but I have participated in many other forums. The truth of the matter is that I have never seen discourse provide "any" beneficial contribution to these type of forums. As guys, we often get frustrated when working on our cars and are still in the funk when we are online. However, we all have to understand that we need to recognize that and suppress those tendencies to express it in our comments.
Thread authors take pride in what they are trying to do so we, as respondents, owe them the respect to be contributive not combative. Also, I can't stress enough that "text" often lacks the interpersonal "cues" that verbal communication has so "please" be sure that you convey the positives (and respect for perspective) when you offer contrary opinions. This forum is an invaluable resource for all of us Lexus owners...

I was just telling my husband that things can get a little heated on this forum, but I have gained so much knowledge from 2GS members. Thanks for bringing an attitude of respect back to this forum!

Considering this thread was started back in 2011, it is amazing that a lot of this activity is still going on in this particular forum. I don't know how bad it was when this first went up but I do know that despite some of the excellent info and the generally great members on this GS 2 site, there are still enough thugs that I don't bother visiting this forum much. Mods, please keep working on it because this has the potential to be a great site.
