Default Help finding O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 w/ pics

I've looked over all of the diagrams from other posts such as (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...n-sensors.html) but it's just confusing me more.

Can anybody tell me if the following is the correct location of the Bank 1 Sensor 1 on a 2001 GS430

I'm also thinking of just using a vice grip to take that out instead of buying the o2 sensor removing extension.. good or bad idea?

i would borrow one from autozone free of charge, loosen it and hand tighten till u get home then remove. these o2's been through alot and if you strip the bolt using the grips youll end up with a bigger headache. but if you plan on just chucking them anyway then i guess you can use one.

yeah i figured that wasn't it. The schematics from other posts seem to be for the gs300's and i can't find the one for the gs430. As far as i can tell.. replacing an o2 sensor is easy - i just need help finding it. Paying $200 to have someone do this which takes less than 30 minutes is a rip off.

Get the right tool as well as some PBlaster and it'll make the job a lot easier.

Not a rip if you do not know what to look for or what you are doing. you realize u posted a pic of a temp sensor of some sort.

The link to the thread you posted CLEARLY shows where it is.

Like i said ..Mechanic.

Thanks. But what you're telling me is like telling someone who wants to cook homemade fried rice to get it at a restaurant.

I honestly don't have the extra money to take it to a mechanic with my current living situation. Can a good samaritan take a picture of it and post it for me?

1UZ-FE + 3UZ-FE

Bank 1 (B1) refers to the bank that includes cylinder No. 1.
Bank 2 (B2) refers to the bank opposite bank 1.

Sensor 1 (S1) refers to the sensor that is located before the catalytic converters.
Sensor 2 (S2) refers to the sensor that is located after the catalytic converters.

bank 1 sensor 1 is on the driver side of the engine. look at the exhaust manifold and trace it until you see the first O2 sensor! if you dont know what the sensor look like and you want to do this yourself, do yourself a favor, go out and BUY an O2 sensor so you have an idea what it looks like. you need to have a O2 sensor socket or a 22mm wrench to remove it, do not use visp grip!

jack the car up in the air, put it on jack stands, climb under the drivers side. Look up where the headers are, bank 1 sensor 1 is right at the collector of the headers BEFORE the cat. Use a 22mm wrench if you have it. You'll have to reach up high and unplug the sensor then use the 22mm wrench to remove it.

this is what i was looking for. makes sense since i was looking from above the engine instead of from below.
