I used to Auto X my mustang all of the time. One thing that makes all of the difference is tires. I bought a set of Kumho Victoracers that were used, and it shaved off a ton of time. If you make a habit out of this, buy a set of used tires, usually you can get them cheap and you will have less grip issues.
As you can see in these pics, the tires get hot and everything sticks to them. At the end of the day, I took my hand and tried to wipe the little pebbles off of my tires and in one swoop over the tire, I cut the hell out of it on the rocks.

Hey, how far are you from the MidAmerica Motorplex? I think our GS's would do much better on a bigger track.
If you are close by and can attend an event there on Sept. 4th, and 5th. I plan to be there. www.findtheline.com is hosting the event.
Your SRT intake sounds nice. Its nice to see other cars on the autocross tracks besides Miatas, VW's, CRX's etc.
I used to run plenty of CRX's in autocross years ago. Tried running my 3rd gen Prelude once and it understeered like crazy. I think MidAmerica will be nice for our Lex's to open up and stretch their legs.
Give ya props for at least getting it out there whether it be autocross or big track! !

Were you using E-Shift? I always think about running AutoX in my GS...Need a helmet, and a stud for my passenger front wheel hub. I also need stiffer springs, sway bars, strut tower bars, and some decent tires, the car feels like a freakin' boat if I push it too much lol.

Yeah I know there is a ton of body roll, still need to save up for those sway bars. And i would love a diff if u have one u have no idea how much time i could make up in the 180 hairpins if i didnt have to worry about all the power going to the inside wheel.

actually you really dont need that much power for autocross. I think with my mods i have plenty of power for it. i just really need to upgrade from 215's to 235's and get the lighter rims. Any other mods beside that remove me from the stock class and then i would have to put a whole lot more money in the car to keep up. Also my number wouldnt be able to be GS300 it would be GM300 which isnt nearly as cool

If you got L-Tuned springs, would you still be in the stock class? Say, if you were to have an L-Tuned edition, that'd be considered stock still, right?
Which lighter wheels are you talking about? The 17's? How come you can have an exhaust and intake, yet still be considered stock?

Thats actually a great idea, I had been wanting the L-Tuned springs but I never thought about that, The L-tuned edition is still in stock class. I wonder if TRD sways would be considered stock? thats probably too much of an aftermarket part tho.

If I were you I would invest in:
1. Better tires. Maybe some Rcomps if you can get them. They are stock class legal.
2. Better shocks. These are stock class legal because they are considered wear items. Bilsteins would be the best choice. (I THINK they make them for your car)
3. Brake pads. On my stock brakes I would notice incredible fade toward the end of a run. It's probably much worse on a GS than an SC.
All these parts are legal for stock class and will probably shave 3-5 seconds off your time. Let me know if you need any other tips. I've recently started getting into autocross myself.
EDIT: Just remembered, if the GS and SC share the same front brakes, I have an extra set of front pads I'd be willing to let you have for pretty cheap. They're EBC yellowstuff which is their track/autocross compound. Just let me know.
