How to remove roof moldings?
Anybody know how to remove the roof moldings. I need to take them off to get repainted, as well as get to the drainedge points as my car leaks when it rains on the driver's side.

Not the way your photo shows, ouch.
I believe the manual says to start from the back, and pop the clips going forward. They are held with something like 13 clips, I believe. I'll check my manual when I get home.

Pefect! I went out side and immediatly tried it, and it came right up. Thanks!
The only thing I have to figure out now are where are the mysterious
drainage holes. I figured once I got those moldings off, I would see drainage holes that I could clean out, but I don't.

maybe try pouring a small cup of water over the area and looking for the water flow.. I saw this in a thread about leaks in the sunroof area that drain through the A pillar to the ground behind the front tire and people were having problems of their front carpet getting wet after rains or carwashes... You sure it is coming from your door side? There was a YOUTUBE clip of it too..

reviving an old thread
The plastic on top of the strip is now peeling off. OP wanted to have the strip repainted and I am want to do the same.
The part is now showing as discontinued and the price of each is $250+ (if some one finds it).
Here is my question:
How successful was the repaint. The strip needs some flex and most likely that is why the original was plastic coated.
Would I need new clips or the strip is single uses (looses the ability to attach once removed).

Is your molding deformed (expanded) that it can not snap on to the clip? Or the clip deformed that it can not clip in to the molding?
Note: I have not detached the strip yet.

Regarding the finish, the original finish peels off like brittle cellophane tape as seen in the OP. Since his post was from 2010, his peeled off better than most people's would after 15-20 years. It's basically the precursor to modern vinyl wrap. My body shop didn't believe that painting it was the best option, so I'm planning to get mine re-wrapped by a shop that does vehicle wraps.
