The OP explains it on the post that he mostly used it for movies. The thing is, the screen being that high up there, cops would surely spot it better.

Back when I had the GS, I drove to LA from the BayArea a few times a month. Helped me on long rides.

Needed to keep the stock navi screen since the climate controls are on there.

Integrating the climate control from a stock non-navi system into mine is something I haven't seen anyone do or knew anything about. This to me was the easiest alternative making it easier to make it back to stock without much trouble.

Used it on long car drives for movies, but mostly used it for music around the town. The sound from the stock CD changer to this unit was night and day.

NICE We'll I had a 98' so prolly wouldn't have worked huh. Always wanted to grab a 01'. Your stock navi screen was way nicer then mine. Another reason why I was dying to find something else to look at.

Well, the only think I know for sure is the 01+ can be swapped plug and play because my friend did it and I did it. However, I still don't quite understand why the 98-00 can't be done as well because the non navi climate controls are all the same 98-05. The non navi climate control I used was bought off ebay and was from an earlier year I believe.

Wait, so the stock 01+ Nav/HU can be swapped with a non Nav HU? I don't care about the navigation, just want the touch screen.
