actually i think it is. but that's when the bulbs are 6000k. my stock acura has the 4100k and all i can say is.... yellow..... now i have the 6000k philips and it's pure white. i have seen both the philips and the osram 6000k and imho i think the philips look a bit better.

i don't know about japanese stuff, but somehow i got the feeling that they are not the strongest out there

Well out of the projectors of the SC, the 4100K is a little bit more yellow than my OEM GS's 4100K setup, but I don't think they're bad at all. The 6000K kits I've seen look TOO blue...but I am going to test out a 6000K bulb from Autolamps (which is NOT a blue dye coated 4100K bulb like in some kits!) in my SC to see how the light output is...

What I wanted to avoid is the "overly" aftermarket look...the 4100K's definitely avoid that while still being very impressive...

I personally think the Hella kits are the best. I've heard some bad things about the Phillips kits. I heard that the blue fades out over some period of time.

Unfortunately, Hella kits are hard to find. But luckily, I know of a local distributor of Hella HID kits and can get the 7000K in blue or purple. If someone needs a set, I can look into trying to get them a set. They tend to stock 9006 sets.

9006 is probably the most commonly used types of bulbs in modern cars (either fogs or low beam) so it makes sense for them to stock those. i heard about hella kits too but never heard much about people actually owning them, probably you are right on the supply.

personally i think 6000k is my limit. i still stand by my words that i think 6000k is the pure white you could ask for. i have seen 4100k, 6000k, 7000k, and 8000k bulbs against a white wall.

from what i see (or i should be put it a comparison) on the wall, the 4100k reflects a yellow light from the wall. the 6000k will produce a pure white, then 7000k is a bit greenish, and 8000k is kinda blue / purple.

now looking at the lights themselves directly is another story (i guess it also depends on whether it's a bluish or pupleish one you get). the 4100k looks pretty white. the 6000k is white too, but you might get a bit of blue or purple "boundary". the 7000 is a bit more purple, and the 8000k is blue.

mind you though, the higher the temperature the less the amount of light emitted, so by theory getting 8000k hid you will have less light emitted on the road compared to 6000k.

according to AutoLamps, the 6000K kit puts out 20% (or was it 25%) less luminence than the 4100K kit...something to think about...

yup, that's very true. i don't notice too much less light emitted from my low beam with the 6000k, but i wonder what it would be like with 7000K+

Yeah you know while I love the look of the 7000K(Blue) Hellas I don't know if I could ever use them because I am so used to the superior output of the GS OEM 4100k HID's.
