there's no splicing, oem terminal clamp bolts on to the wire and it's $18, not $50.

it is not a solution, its a bandaid fix. which is why its ghetto.

OEM terminals are less than $20 from lexus.

you can get a PAIR for $5.00 at Kragens.

Again, it's not a "bandaid" fix since it has been working on my rolla for 2 years, hence you still have failed to prove it is "ghetto".

Secondly, OEM positive terminals are $40 for the part itself, $25 for the negative, not including labor for people who don't feel comfortable splicing wires, etc.

And again and lastly, if you can provide alternatives for members for this problem, then you should do so and post here. If not, I highly suggest you not mock answers to problems.

I was explaining why he said it was. It is not the proper way to repair a terminal. Regardless if it 'works' or not.

that's not an opinion.

and the proper fix is to replace the terminals.

I never said it was the proper way to repair a battery terminal, but a suggestion as to how fix the problem. Take it for what it's worth, no need to complain about it. I posted it as a solution to this problem, so people can either A) use the solution, or B) fix via an alternative route. If one likes it fine, if not, whatever. Quite arguing about it. Case closed.

$4.99

And don't worry about those little felt pads, it's a bunch of bs.

Or just do what I did and buy new OEM cables and terminal covers. I'm **** about using OEM parts.

I was looking in the battery area of the vehicle and noticed that the POSITIVE cable end clamp had become brittle. I went to AutoZone and picked up this exact part. I replaced the part only to find that my vehicle could not start. I put the corroded one back on because thats the only way it would start. The oem one looked to be more of a copper color unlike the shiny metal one from AutoZone. Did I do something wrong? was it just not tight enough?

Update 01/17/2013: Done and working fine. I have way better contact with this new adapter.

Default RE post# 21, by WBMX1981....AutoZone part

Not sure what you mean...you did get the Autozpne part to work? - Was it just not tight enough?
Or did you get the OEM?

Interested because trying to decide what to do in a pinch, don't want to waste time. Have an AutoZone nearby.

Maybe I'll buy a dollar house clamp to have on hand if car cuts off in middle of traffic

Thanks!
