I have not done them yet, but I have done plugs on numerous other vehicles. GM engines mounted sideways…Dodge Caravans….and both of those cars are a huge PITA. I have done plugs on my Mustang, and Tundra, where the engine is mounted the right way. I looked at my engine and it looks similar to the Tundra…plugs way down in the valve cover if I remember correctly. They don’t look that bad with a 5 inch extension. Looks like you take off the engine cover and remove the coils and pull out? Hopefully it’s not worse to do than it looks.
its not hard to install, I recommend Torquemasters, nice plugs and they still looked good after 90k.
I installed Torquemasters in my car last summer. I noticed no difference as far as power goes, but the plug change cost me 2 MPG? Anyone else had similar experience?
And here's the part number from Lexus for their plugs...which the guy said they are gapped to .047. lol. This is the biggest PITA I have ever had to go through to find spark plugs.
Denso: 90080-91180
And how does this work? Lexus wants 11.20 per plug and my local Toyota Dealer wants 15.00 for that exact same plug. I thought Toyota was supposed to be cheaper? Maybe they need all of the money they can get to pay for the multiple lawsuits coming their way for the cars that do not stop. Until you die.

GET PLATINUM PLUGS!!! *****s Gone Krazy (NGK Platinums)
you pay more, but they last 100K miles.
Agreed! Was about to say the same thing! I just did a tune up on my girls car(98 GS400) and someone had put NGK long life iridiums(best NGK has to offer), but they looked like they had quite a few miles on them! I swapped out with the NGK Platinums WITH a gap of 0.044 and good to go! I ONLY RUNS NGK PLUGS!
So I thought I would check in and give you my experience with my 2000
GS400 Spark Plug Change.
The Car just hit 100K so I decided to pull the trigger and get new plugs installed.
The owners manual says it's due at 110K miles. In reality I would say these should be changed at 70K if not earlier.
8 Denso (5304) IK20 Iridium ... $7.01 8 $56.08 were ordered from Amazon.
I also picked up two Cans of CRC MAF and Throttle Body Cleaner.
Shop time was 1.5 Hr and the bad news here is the dreaded ripped boot on #1which Lexus doesn't sell by itself so you have to buy the whole coil pack at $120 or so. Darn!
This is one of the reason I didn't do this at home. I knew if I ripped a boot I would be stuck with no way to get to the parts store. So if you are doing this at home my suggestion is to have a boot on hand. Maybe check a junk yard and pick up a couple of rubber boots before you start.
With the MAF and Throttle Body cleaned and new plugs installed the car runs fantastic! SO Smooth. No more shaky idle with AC off. great pickup and throttle response.
I've been using the K&N Drop in Filter for the GS400 for the last 90K and instead of cleaning and re-oiling them just replacing the whole thing at 20K intervals. Fear of Oil on the MAF.
So The mechanic was very nervous about spraying the MAF and told me at my own risk.... The engine did throw a check engine light that they reset with the hand scanner and no issues since. So again if you plan to do this at home don't be surprised at a CEL after Spraying the MAF.
Glad I didn't ruin the MAF but bummed I had to buy a $120 coil to replace a $5
rubber Boot. Well now I have a spair coil.

dude that is a major waste on the k&n. if u not not gonna re-oil it just save your $ and buy the cheaper oem type ones.
i have cleaned my maf twice now and never thrown a code nor did most of the people in these so i dunno if yours was necessarily associated.... do u know the code it kicked out?
I just changed the plugs in my 2000 GS400 which has just over 100K. I went with the NGK Iridium, part # 4589 which has been referenced here already. I didn't worry about the gap and haven't had any issues. I found 8 plugs in my local Autozone for $7 a piece.
