Default What tool to use?

Hi forum.

Need some help big time. I proceeded to change the actuator motor today and had to pause because i got to a point that i need some assistance on.

I got to the old motor and upon pulling it out I noticed a black torx looking item on the end of the motor. I could not remove this item. I used a hammer, put it in a vise grip and no luck. Anyone got a suggestion, it was so frustrating being so close but so far.

Additionally, the motor that i bought has a little brass ring around it. Looks just like the images posted by TRD11 in the forum. Should this be removed? How is it removed? Should I have ordered the one w/o the brass item/ring?

Thanks CL

On the old motor, I used a vise grip to pull out that black piece. Oh, I used a torch gun to heat it up first for like 10 sec then pull it out.

On the new motor, you just use a vise grip to pull out that brass piece that came with the motor (you don't need that), then you have to put the black metal piece you took out from the old motor into the new motor. When putting in the new motor, I wouldn't recommend to use a hammer b/c that might damage the motor. I used a big vise grip and push it in.

Do you just put a standard vise grip and just pull the brass piece off? Or is it like a twist motion?

Same question applies to the old motor (after heating?

Thanks
