Default Shifting manually?

I have a 99 GS300 and when I want it to get that extra kick, I down shift from D (drive) to 4 or 3 and then back. Since my car doesn's have tiptronic and its not stick, I wanted to know if shifting between gears will harm anything or its okay.

Provided your not slamming it about up and down all the time should be ok.

um nah, it should be fine, guys this is no different really than the tranny shifting itself. i mean your car doesnt ALWAYS stay in 5 when you drive it. it just automatically shifts it. as long as your not over-revving or anything it should be fine EXCEPT your gonna burn gas like this
