Default need alternator help!

LONG STORY

hi i did some searching in the forums but couldnt really find an answer and i really dont know much at all about engines and stuff so could somebody help me?
i have a 2002 gs300 with 50k miles on it.
only mods done to it are hid's for low beam and foglights.
two days ago, i was at a taco bell and went inside to get some food and when i came back out and got in my car, i turn the ignition and there was nothing.i guessed the battery had died so my friend jumped the car for me and it ran fine.
went over to friend's house and when i came out, same problem.jumped again and went on my way.maybe about a minute later, the car just turned off and i pulled over to the side of the road.once again, i jumped the car and left..few minutes later, the car died again and then started again in a few seconds.
yesterday, the car seemed to drive fine with no starting problems.
today, i have a battery charger so i charged my car.the gauge on the charger read that my batter was fully charged and ready to go...got in the car and turned the ignition and nothing happened...so i got the car jumped thinking the charger didnt work and when i started to accelerate the car seemed to be revving unusually high and the car wasnt moving too much.my lights started to flicker then my car started to work fine.now its just sitting in my driveway...any suggestions?

someone in a different thread mentioned that it might be an alternator problem?

I would check your battery cable connections. I have had my GS430 not start after being in a store for 20 minutes on a nearly new battery. I wiggled the tightly connected battery clamp and the car started right up and I haven't had a problem since. Hopefully this is your problem because 50k is too soon for an alternator to go bad.

well the thing is would the car die while driving if just the battery was the problem?
