Car Smells like gas... What could it be?

last time i had to replace the fuel damper because fuel was leaking from the little screw on top of it. also i had to remove the fuel rail/injectors twice because one of the o-rings was not seated properly during the first install. good luck

hey also another question...
do you think this could be the reason that I am getting an average of 11 miles per gallon?
i mean yeah its strictly city driving. but come on now.
Im really praying that fixing this injector helps out my fuel economy
now that I think about it, he did the diagnostics and a lean code came up....
he said it was running lean. could this have an effect on my mileage?

I smell gas fumes on cold start of my 1999 GS400 (with ~155K+) also. But, my fuel filler neck is on the driver's side.
Not sure whether I have the same problem as the OP. Some people list possible causes
may be leaky fuel injector gaskets (o-rings, grommets, insulators, etc.), oxygen sensors.
I fear the car may catch fire if not fixed. How to proceed ?
