Default L-tuned suspension PROBLEM

Hey guys,
I had the L-tuned installed today and picked up the car. The mechanic was completing the installation and asked me to test drive the car.

I went around the block and heard this big thump from the rear right tire well. I went back to the mechanic and he showed me what the problem was...

I guess from inside of the trunk he saw that the bushing where the top of the shock is mounted to the car was ripped and the shock center rod (half inch thick) was sticking like 3 to 4 inches inside of the car....

I was like....what the f($#...
He says I have to replace the bushings and everything will be fine...my car has less than 30,000 miles on it...why would this bushing rip?

Is he doing something wrong or has someone else experienced this?

Thanks for any advice.

Did you actually see for yourself that it was ripped? Or is the rod just sticking up through the strut mounting?
Sounds to me like he did not replace the washer assembly on top of the new strut. It is easy to miss. This will cause the strut rod to push through the bushing. Either way, the bushing going bad at 30k miles??? NOT LIKELY AT ALL. Something is not right.

Default hmm

Wish I had a pic. I would bet dollars to donuts that he missed that washer. I is easy to miss. Without is, the rod just goes right through the mounting. It would take it back to him. Where is the original struts? All it is is a washer about 1 inch or so in diameter. It may be stuck to your old parts. It is easy to tell. The strut rod has a bolt on top. The washer goes right under it, then the rubber stop which you probably cannot see. The washer rest up against the mounting bushing to prevent the rod from going through. If it is ripped, then part of the mounting bushing should be resting /dangling on top of the strut rod. Most likely the rod is sticking through with the bolt visible on top. If you see the strut rod and this bolt and no washer on the strut rod under the bolt----he forgot to put the washer on it-thus your problem.

Thanks for the info.

I bought the car back already but I'll go back and check this morning whether or not the bushing is dangling on top of the rod or not.
Keep the mechanic honest as well...
