actually my old es300 would work from almost mile away in site or not...its on radio waves or frequency's but if i was in a really tree covered area it wouldnt always work so well. i hated when i had the regular one i had to be like 50 feet from it...really unless i start it stay inside for a min how much warmer/cooler will car b in 50 feet

and the 1 mile range on the viper will only work in an open area... if you are in a rural area with buildings, good luck!!! prob quarter mile at most...

i am a bit confused by your question... your last sentence yes is true... you can arm/disarm your oem alarm when you arm/disarm your aftermarket alarm via the keypad... but are you asking if you can do the reverse??? i.e.. arm the aftermarket alarm with the oem remote???
Yes. Just for the ARM/DISARM controlled by the oem keyless. This i will be able to use the added protection of the alarm w/o carrying the alarm remote.
