to the OP. good looking car....interior is almost immaculate. to bad no ML or NAV and i agree with abel the tint does look off but no worries...needs to be darker neways. go ahead and get her
correction.... they go out with oem wheels and oem suspension. the aftermarket ones tend to make them go out faster

I'm looking around for information about the Torsen differentials.
Sounds like there's a Supra model that bolts right up, the Mk IV?
But they're getting pricey / old / hard to find?
I come from a background in Toyota Trucks and BMWs.
I think the differential is the same basic 7.5" Diff used in the front application of the trucks. The 7.5" front diff is the only differential I've ever cracked open, though it really wasn't too hard. Wonder if it'd be pretty much the same. It'd be interesting if some truck parts swapped over.
Overall the car ended up being pretty reliable.
-The weird throttle behavior I noted in a different thread was the worst. It would give me a different amount of reaction to throttle pedal movement at different times. it felt like the electronic throttle would switch maps, because you'd be driving at a steady pace, then either blahhhh it'd fall on it's facr or rarrrr it'd jump and go.
But that behavior was pretty transparent when accelerating up to a speed and using cruise control. So I just ignored it.
-Oxygen sensor failure. Though that was literally my fault as a jacking accident smashed the o2 sensor.
-Brakes needed to be gone over right in the middle of winter. Let me tell you swapping brake parts at 20 below zero is no fun.
-Automatic transmission always felt like it shifted slightly weird. But then again that could be because this was my first automatic in years (decade+?) I also hated trying to check the fluid level. How are you supposed to check it before you start the motor if the dipstick is only valid on a running warmed up engine? Weird to me.
In the end I did like the car, but I ended up selling it.
I could never get comfortable in the Lexus seats. Seems the same thing for Lexus LS's of the same era. Just not enough back support, so I would end up with backaches from driving the car.
Could never stand tan colored interiors. I should never have bought one.
And finally I love driving a stick shift. Lexus really should've offered a stick with this v8.
Future plans are to go for a pony car, probably a mustang with a V8 stick shift in a year or two.

my user name should give you an idea about myself. i just got rid of my '98 accord v6 vtec, and got a 1999 gs300 with 205k , the gs has no aftermarket parts other than the rims/tires (20in) , right when i bought it ( a few weeks ago ) i took it to the toyota dealership and had them do the following : all belts, timing ect, waterpump, tensioner, all pullies and seals/o-rings , cam/valve seals , high end transmission flush/fluid change ( i forgot the technical term ) , and also some new tires , oil change,. i'm taking it in next week to get the LF upper control arm/ball joint done w/full allignment , other than that there was nothing else the mechanics recomended i get done. i'm a total noob so if anyone has any suggestions on some things i can or should get done to help the life of my gs300 please drop me a line with suggestions or whatever info you think could help me. thanks.
