I had the same thing happen on mine. Have to judge speed by RPMs. All the brake lights come on too. The weird thing is that sometimes it works and then all of a sudden it doesn't. I took it in to the Lexus specialist place I always go to and they said it was the ABS board and I decided it wasn't worth it to fix it. The odometer is also on that board so now I don't know exactly how many miles I have on it (but I know it's more than 200k).
i already kno i had this happen to me when i was changing my battery, my cluster wouldnt turn on at all, its the battery u gotta titten everything really tight, if it dont work take it out to a shop its a wire
Sorry to bump this old thread but i'm having the same problem, gas, rpm and temp works but the speedo and mileage stopped. I went to wekfest Sunday and it was working fine on my way home it stopped.
I already had a new cluster sitting at home so i got it swapped out but that didn't help. Also disconnected the battery for about 30mins and still doesn't work.
Then last night i had another problem, my brakes work but the lights doesnt come when i hit the break, i have push that lil red button by the shift *** to get it into drive.

any help would be greatly appreciated....
Check in your driven side kick panel on the fuse box the fuse 15 Am that say cigarette. Good luck
Mine is intermittant now to but i have pulled and installed needles on that so many times î may have pushed on it too hard. If i find another dash ill pull the motor and look at it closely. Its probably just a pwm meter that could swing any needle but the needles are weighted differently so who knows.
This video explains the 3 simultaneous symptoms others have had and shows the process of how it’s fixed. Hope this helps everyone who may run into this issue.
3 issues are:
1. 1. speedometer not moving
2. 2. odometer digital display is blank
3. 3. shifting is erratic while trying to accelerate

Nicely done. This is why forums matter right here. It would be nice to give a million billion likes to that post.
It's a bitter sweet thing. Bitter that the issue crosses over various Toyota products. Sweet that it isn't just a Lexus GS 300 thing.
I worked on Preludes for a while and often issues were Prelude specific, sometimes even down to a model year pre-or post facelift.
So turns out the speedo will "reset" itself if it looses signal from more than 1 wheel abs sensor. There's a jumper wire procedure to reset the speedo that may get it working temporarily until it looses signal from more than 1 abs sensor again. Hooked up a scan tool and watched it stream live data from the abs sensors and as soon as more than 1 stopped reporting the speedo would die again and have to be reset with the jumper wire procedure.
