Default Check engine and TRAC OFF light stays one

Hi,

I have a 93 GS300 and these two warning came on as I was driving. Before bringing it to the dealer, I want to learn more about these warning lights. Is this an ABS problem or traction control problem. If anyone has this problem before, please kindly let me know what the problem may be and what I can expect as far as the repair bill is concern.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Lightbulb Happened in my GS4

Kiet,
Last fall I had a similar problem. In my 98 GS400, these same lights came on. The lights were accompanied by no throttle response. In my case, the dealer plugged the cars computer to theirs and determined that "throttle response sensor" was bad. It was replaced at the dealer and the bill was about $400. I think the part was around $250.

I was also told that these same lights will come on if the gas cap is not securely on. Strange, I know. But, that is what the service manager told me to try before bringing the car to the dealer.

Good Luck,
Damon

Thank you for everyone's response. I brought it in to the dealer yesterday and they just called with the problem. Said that 2 O2 sensors are bad. Will cost $700 ($440 for parts; $250 for labor). That seems rather high but what can I do at this point.

Nothing, sorry to say - things happen to 9 year old cars. You might try SUPRATRD (Steve Ganz) to see if he can get you the parts for less.

Default 02 Sensors

I just had the same thing happen in my 92 SC400.

I paid $150 for each sensor and $100 labor. Total was $400.

They are simple to put in.

I had a Toyota store do it.

You are paying a lot more than you need to.

Hope you read this post in time.
