first of all, only 5% of used cars fall into the excellent category, i doubt that's the case.

second, modifications don't really play into the value of the car.

160k is high even for these cars.

i wouldn't pay more than 7500 for it.

if he has a problem, tell him to see what a dealer would give him for it on a trade in. Guarantee he wouldn't see 3 grand for that car.

I'd offer 7000 and go from there. hell, i bought my 01 gs300 with only 132k on it for 6000.

Too high, above far market value. Aslo, jcat_GS3 is correct, less than 5% of vehicles (all vehicles) are actually excellent condition. I would imagine this is a clean "fair" vehicle. A 2000 with average to high mileage should have around 128K, this has WAY over that. Offer 7K to take the car off their hands IF they offer a 90 labor and parts warrantee.

Last time I was selling something and someone fed me that line, I told him drove a long way to waste someone's time. Flat out insinuating that a seller is desperate to get rid of his or her car puts them in a defensive position, and then you'll have NO chance of negotiating.

You need to simply ask, "Are you at all flexible with you price"

They'll come back with a, "No, it's firm" or "Yeah, I could work with you".

If you get the later, then you can start making offers.

Best of luck

Check the True Market Value on the car at edmunds.com. KBB is a joke trust me I sold cars. anyways if he wants $9000 say ok then start devaluing the car. Does it need tires? If so its almost $1000 for a set of replacement- what about the maintence records? If its incomplete thats another $1000 for service to make sure your making a good investment. Have him agree with you with every point you make. Once your done ask him how much would you pay for this car if you was in my shoes. Doing this time pull out you check book and ink for that amount if its below his original offer.

Interesting.

We think these cars are worth a million bucks when it's ours and it's time to sell.

But to buy a used one, apparently it's okay to low-ball and insult existing owners.

Without seeing the car in person, it's difficult to say.

On the other hand, most of the GSs I've seen that people call
"super clean" I would call a "roach" or a "project."

man insult his *** and offer him 5k lol .

this guy at work has a 2000 GS300! when he bought that thing wrecked he paid 1500 for it w/ 130k miles and clear title. he bought it with alot of front end damage and frame damage and he said he spent 6k on fixing it which i think he got taken to the cleaners if he paid thatmuch in parts. Now since he bought it with a clear title and fixed it on his own hes trying to sell for 13k with 160k miles!! i was just blown away when he told me how much he was asking AFTER he told me how much he bought it for and how much he spent on it. i didnt care if it had a clear title. WRECKED car is still a WRECKED car. i said id only give you 4k!!

but yea man offer him 5k!!

how do u have frame damage and a clear title? can do that in tn unless u dont report it BUT once you take it to a frame shop to be pulled they report it! he fixed it on his own? so he owns a frame pulling machine?.......remind me to stay away from your friend and his cars for sale..... BACK ON TOPIC dont pay that much. i only paid 14k for my 2001 gs430 with ML and nav with 72k on the dash and it was in great shape. couple small fixes (servo motors,brakes,90k maint) but NOTHING major.
