Default Few questions that I need help with.....

Alright, I have been a member for a year or so. I originally joined to learn more about the cars themselves. Now the time has come for me to purchase a new daily/family car. The 2 candidates, the GS300 and GS400. 1998-2001 year range. Under 70k miles prefferably. I want either black/black or silver/black. My questions are as follows:

1- How hard is it to find a GS300 with black leather?

2- Are the T-Belt/W-Pump/Lower ball-joints the main concerns with these cars?

3- Is the fuel mileage between the GS300 and GS400 a huge difference?

4- Is the GS400 worth the extra $ to get over the 300?

I'm not looking at modifying it immensly. Just basic bolt-ons and then some other things (going for VIP styling/looks). I really am enjoying the forums and I am being here more frequently so I look forward to learning alot.

1. Somewhat difficult...Unless your lucky

2.Yes at 90k

3. No give or take 1-2mpg in gs400 favor...according to the threads...

4. That is up to you....both are great.

I think no one responded...because all your questions can be answered through out threads already posted....search is your friend.

2. I would change the lower ball joints as soon as i get the car just to feel safe.
3. As fas as i know, gas diff is so small, there almost the same. it really depends on how you drive tho.
4. Personally i would get the GS400 any day over the 300, since the gs400 is faster.

1- How hard is it to find a GS300 with black leather?

the black leather is rarely sold at a "cheap price "

2- Are the T-Belt/W-Pump/Lower ball-joints the main concerns with these cars?

from what I have read. just look for vehicles with maintainance records or risk it on a cheaper deal. it all balances out

3- Is the fuel mileage between the GS300 and GS400 a huge difference?

its about 4-8 mpg from what i have seen
4- Is the GS400 worth the extra $ to get over the 300?

imo yes but they seem to run the same price.

btw: If you are interested in making an out of state purchase I may be able to let you get my gs 400 wich has all known issues resolved and soon to have the t-belt done. I am looking at the new is-f

Thank you so much for the replies you guys. I have been searching the threads and have also been diving in AutoTrader and a few other places. I'm skeptical about cars on ebay, but haven't decided. I'm not a hot-rodder so to speak when I drive. I do like the V8 more in the 400 (if the 300 was the GTE thats what I'd have hands down!). I'm hoping black/black. I would love to find the newer 430 that offered the orange leather with the pearl white exterior. Only seen 1 and I must say it was impressive.
