I can tell a difference between regular and power mode in the transmission shift points and mileage. Power mode is good for a 1.5 to 2 MPG drop over regular mode. Most likely, this is caused by power mode raising the shift points in the lower gears. I drive in regular mode most of the time.
I only use the Power mode when I'm in moderate traffic to make quick lane changes or if I have to haul a**. Gas is just too much to be driving in Power mode all the time.
Any CL members drive with snow mode that can give us some verdict? :P
It works great for the snow. It seems to get a little better gas mileage, however I just don't like the power loss to drive full time in snow. Imagine no power and shifting in final drive at 40mph.
Just like the rest, I normally keep it in Normal Mode when cruising and trying to save gas. Power Mode when up for spirited driving or trying to pass or launch from a dig.
Do you think that will make a difference. Will the car run too slow.
If it does make a difference I would consider it for commute driving
I DEFINITELY think it makes a difference...
Try it, you'll feel it..your car wont pickup as quick..it will feel bulky...
Uusually when I drive..I am heavy on the gas pedal...So when it is in snow mode..the pickup isn't as responsive...So I am sure there is less fuel being used...
I haven't kept it on for a full tank to actually realize how much difference it makes...but I know for sure if I were to keep it on snow mode and not floor it like I usually do It would be a lot more economical! Not safe for changing lanes in traffic though!
Recently I started using Power mode more often and the gas mileage improved. But that's also I change the way I drive. Since GS is such a heavy car, so I opt for Power mode to quickly pick up the speed, and then cruise by easing on the gas paddle. This works some what in regular city/hwy driving. In heavy traffic, snow mode helps a bit, but the car also becomes a whale. Anyway, I am talking about 1 mpg difference here so it could be the weather.
