Way over in the suburbs of Dexter.

Good to hear that there's a local on the site.

I have no problem at all with the car wandering at highway speeds. I also have no complaints with the tires as far as uneven wear or noise. I have 8,000 mostly high speed highway miles on the car. I either lucked out with this car or I don't have enough miles on it for it to start to deteriorate. I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee so I monitor the Jeeps unlimited forum also. I read that the Jeep's rotors and fuel pumps were failing early, sure enough mine did also.

Another thing that seems to matter with my GSs is tire pressure. With the Potenzas I find any tire pressure above 34 would cause the car to wander at speed. I keep my tires at 33 lbs and it seems to be as good as it will get. The michenlins were much less sensitive to tire pressure and I could run 34-35 comfortably, but frankly I liked the handling and feel of the XGT/Z4s best at 33.

I've read of some on the site running 40 lbs or more and can't understand how they're cars handle (and why the tires don't wear prematurely in the center).

On my BMW 540i you were suppose to run 33 front and 41 rear. That is what I kept them at with no wear problems.

This brings up an interesting issue... if you use aftermarket rims/tires, how DO you know what pressure is right (except to wait a while and see if the tires wear out ).

I really have no clue what pressure I should keep my staggered rim tire pressures at. I tend to go with about 35 all around.

Any tips?

for GS, I find that the front tires (especially the inner part)wear faster than the rear. I set the psi at 38 front and 36 back.

I have 35 all around as well and my car wanders on freeways and local streets... Maybe I should deflate the front tires to 33 and see how they react.

I checked my tire pressure and they were reading at 28. For some odd reason, I decided to inflate the front and rear tires up to 38 and guess what? My car does not wander around on freeways anymore. Why is that? Today, I will deflate the tires to 35 and see how my car reacts because the ride got bumpier.
