Did they replace that pulley? Because if they did, they weren't suposed to tighten the nut, the nut is tightened at the factory, as the pulley comes together with the bracket, to which its mounted to at the factory.

If I had to guess they had a trainee doing the work and he loosened it not realizing he wasnt suppose to and then didnt tighten it back up. I was fortunate that I got it replaced when I did. I doubt my belt wouldve lasted much longer before it gave out. My mechanic also found a bolt that they had broken off and just left. After seeing this work I dont have alot of confidence in the work the dealership did before I bought it so I think Im going to have the rest of the 90k service redone by my buddy, which after doing the t-belt want be very much.

Thats why I never take my car to a dealership, or any shop that does not allow me to watch them work. I've got burned before, and from now on, its either I'm doing the work myself, or if someone else is doing the work, I'm watching them.

Im lucky one of my best friends is a mechanic that has his own shop. I take a six pack and hang out with him while he is working on it and get to see him do everything. Plus its great having a friend with a couple of lifts!!!!!

Default 2008 IS350 whining noise.

Hey All,

My 2008 IS350 just started making this whining noise, almost like a sewing machine that is running. It increases and decreases with the RPMs and is driving me nuts. At 9k miles should this be making that type of noise?

If the whining noise happens especially when turning, it's time to check your power steering fluid.
