Default interior room

I am considering the purchase of GS400 to replace my 2004 BMW 330i. I really like the BMW but with a wife and two growing kids, the car is starting to feel a little cramped.

I have looked at the specs on the interior room, especially rear leg and headroom, but the numbers don't make sense. According to the specs, the rear legroom of my BMW is better than the GS (which is exactly the same number as my wife's LX470). I know for a fact that the LX has much more rear legroom than the BMW, so I am turning to this group for opinions. Does anyone have a E46 3-series BMW or can give an opinion? Can 4 adults comfortably ride in the GS?

i wouldnt say comfortably on long trips. we did it on a trip from LA to Santa Barbara, it wasnt too bad. 3 series vs 2GS, rear seat leg room has gotta be comparable. it's definitely no 7 series or LS tho in those quarters.

My wife has an E46 and I have a GS400. I don't think the GS400 offers more leg room than the E46, however I don't think I have ever sat in my rear seat. I will say that my wife enjoys riding in the GS400 on long trips because the front of the car seems larger. It could also be that her seats are not as comfortable because she has the sports package.
To answer your question, I think 4 adults can fit comfortably in a GS for your average trips. No one has ever complained that they felt cramped in the back.

I went from Miami to Orlando (4 hours) for Halloween Horror Nights in October with 4 other people and everyone was confortable the whole way up and back ... So I think you'd be ok ... 5 people in the cabin + everyone's luggage in the trunk and we were all good

i think there is more room in the GS. I sit with my seat pretty reclined and i cant get back there and sit comfortably. i dont think i could do that in the 330
