In Toronto, do they force crappy additives or a portion of ethanol during winter months? That can cause problems too.

Sasha,

Just make sure the little talk doesn't escalate to you kicking your mother out of the house.

Well,

I would, If she is unintentionally hurting your car by putting in the cheap gas, you better bet your arsche that i will get on her about it. I dont care if she is my mother when she is ruining my beautiful car. If it was me, I would tell my mom to please stop and if it happened again I would put two shots center of mass

No problem fuel wise like that up here Bit.. I however notice that up here at least if you tend to stick with one gas station (Shell, Esso, Sunoco) and not mix the gas from different vendors the cars tend to run better with no knock or noises that Sasha is hearing.. Just my 2 cents..

2savvy,

Can that be the cause of the rattling sound I sometimes get from my motor? I put in 2 gallons of mobil supreme in my car and then the next day filled up with exxon supreme. Could that cause my car to have that noise, do they interact with each other?

Its just a theory on mine.. Previously to ownership on my Lexus vehicles I had a 94 Intrepid and I used the exact same gas week after week and I never had a problem with knocking or otherwise weird noises.. However an uncle of mine with the same vehicle always mixed fuel from whoever had the lowest price at the time and he had fuel related problems with his Intrepid.. Could be just a coincedence so you be the judge..

The different brands of gasolines do have different additives, so it's possible they could interact, although I believe the regulations are such that this shouldn't be able to happen.

Having said that, I really try to stock to Chevron and avoid brands like Amoco and certainly the 'cheap' brands like BP, Quiktrip, and so on. They're cheap for a reason - they don't add any cleaning additives. I'd rather pay a few cents more and have a clean running engine.
