the animals are crazy lately. I didn't hit a deer but I almost hit a racoon or something, avoided hitting it, and ended up on a curb....VCS couldn't help me bc of hydroplane

 

If I had hit a light poll the bumper would be crushed as light polls do not hover 2 feet off the ground. Second when I hit the deer it shot straight up into the air off to the side. When you hit an animal standing still at 70mph with something as heavy as a car it doesn't come towards you. I takes flying lessons. If were going around 45 or so I suspect that it would've landed on my windshield or through the sunroof. That would've been a great picture.

 

We wanna see some like this... Now that's a good shot of hitting a deer!

i actualyy used that as an excuse once for a geico claim with no police report <~~~~ fell asleep on tha tpike n swiped a guard rail.. 2 weeks after i got my gs! i duno whats worse.. guard rails or actual deers :-p

either way they both hurt!

luckily i was able to get a police report immediately now just waiting on the powers that be. I'm fairly certain its not totaled but gonna be expensive

 

Good to see you didn't get hurt. Did you have to call the Game Warden. I had a similar insident in my F-150 years ago. I had to call the game warden and tag the dear as though I was out deer hunting. Total cost to repair the truck was $4000+. I sure hope you get out for less than that.

 

Holy crap! Yeah so the deer won in the end on that one . Driver hits and kills deer...deer spirit slings dead carcas (physical) through windshield killing driver. That must have been gruesome...

On a serious note, good to see your OK. I am from Long Island (NY) and there aren't that many parts where this could happen around here. We just have to look out for drunk drivers going the opposite way on parkways and on ramps. No joke there was about 10 of these incidents happen in the last 3 months; many of these ended tragically! What is with people?!

ok so why do people keep commenting as though I'm not telling the truth? Why would I lie about hitting a deer. If I hit a pole i'd say so. If i hit a car I'd say that. there is deer hair on the car not much blood though. you probably can't see it cause the sun is shining really brightly in the picture. The front of my hood looks like a custom couch for a couple hundred pound animal. Whatelse could make an indention like that. Anything else I would have hit car or otherwise would have also completely crushed the bumper. before tearing through the grill and radiator. had I hit a pole, my airbags would've deployed. It was doe I hit, if it were a buck i'd have been alot worse off.

Looking at the pics again, I can kind of see why people are curious as to why the deer didn't smash the windshield going at the speed you say you were going. But I notice that your bumper is not smashed in. I figure if you struck a pole that there would be damage to the bumper also. Good luck in your GS repair.
