6 speed GS430, would you buy
So lets say Lexus put out a 6 speed GS430 with the following:
6 speed close ratio trans
Stock 18's with 265's in rear
L-Tune suspension
TRD Sways front and rear
Upgraded brakes
Who would pay 50k for this?
Or do you think it would be out of character for a GS430?
I would buy one

You would think a car like what mayandoom describes would be in the $60k USD range.. Would be interesting to see it come true.. I'll be just happy to see a HOT version factory equipped GS as an option for the next new GS.. Call it L-Tuned, TRD or whatever just DO IT LEXUS and THEY WILL SELL!!
I wonder if Lexus executives cruise this website for ideas??

I remember reading on a car site, and they said that a New Generation GS430 should be coming out in 04-05 and it'll have anywhere from 400hp to 460hp and Lexus is making it to directly go against the M5's and i believe the E55, so lets see..... and the Autoshow is in Detroit this week, i'll be heading over there but do any of you know if they are unveiling any special GS cars this year because that's mainly what i wanna see if anything...

True, though a manual trans in considerably less than a auto trans to manufacture.

If this question had been asked before I bought my GS, the answer would have been a resounding YES, now I'm not so sure. I have driven primarily manuals, especially when the vehicle is underpowered, because it's easier to control the power. But with 300 ponies, it sure is nice to just hop in and go! Still, when I get ready to retire the current GS, if a maual is available I might get it, just depends on my mood at the time

The cost will be considerably higher for a six speed rather than a standard five speed like in the MKIII Supras and the IS. Namely because Toyota (BMW, Nissan, Cheverolette...) does not manufacture there own six speed transmissions. If this is the same 6-speed as the Supra Twin Turbo Toyota then Toyota would have to renew their license with Getrag or spend a fortune in R&D. Good idea though.

Besides a Supra Auto cost more than a Supra Manual back in the 90's. the way it should of been.

Unfortunately, some higher end manufacturers CHARGE more for a manual vs. an auto because it is now considered a SPORT model. They also make more money on the manual version because a nice little 6 speed cost on average a 3rd of a 5 speed auto box regardless of where it is purchased or licensed from, Getrag ,ZF included.
