Personally, 19 and 20 inch wheels look like crap on these cars, and actually screw up the performance, as well as usually causing tons of problems with rubbing, etc. Stick with the 16" wheels, the big wagon wheels are just a "fad", IMHO.

#3 True taking weight off wheels is more effective than taking weight off the chassis, but reduced weight is reduced weight, and it helps either way ...

. I think the rule of thumb is every 100 lbs of dead weight on the car yields a .1 difference on the 1/4 mi.

The stock spare and jack weights a TON. Probably like 50-55 lbs for the whole setup. Plus I wouldnt even be using it.

anyways... if you take 1lb off the wheel it will effect your performance more than if you take 1lb off the chassis.

My car: 1999 Lexus GS300

Curb Weight = 3,638lb Where did you get the extra 1000 lbs from? The 400, surprisingly, weighs only 60 lbs more than a 300. So taking the spare and jack assembly out of your 400, will net you around the curb weight of a 300, without sacrificing basically anything.

Not to mention the added handling and gas savings (over the long run albeit), of weight reduction.
