hi. im buying a 98 gs400 tomorrow. it has apporx 15k miles. it is silver and its fully loaded except for nav. ok i have a couple questions.i am keeping this car for apporx 1 yr untill the M3 with the f1 tranny comes out. so for now i would like to do a couple mods.

1)19 or 20" wheels
2)springs(maybe shocks)
3)maybe a small bodykit under 700$ or so not including paint.

i am looking to spend no more than 3-4000$ cause im selling the car in about a year or so. but i may just keep it but i doubt it. anyways, i am probably going to get a set of used wheels. and about the springs and shocks, do i need both? i want the tire to be just touching the wheel well. how much do i have to lower it by? do i need coilovers?how bout for 20" wheels? do i need shocks or will just springs be good enough to hold me over for a year?

and about a small bodykit. i have seen some pictures of gs400's with small bodykits. what i mean small is, the front is just an add on front lip, 2 side skirts and not too sure about the rear bumper. anyone know where i can find these? i am a total lexus newbie and dont have a clue where to start. thanks.

i saw the handle and thought I had to help out a friend in need!!

about your questions:

1) you DO NOT need shocks!! i know plenty of people who have springs and NO shocks

2) 20's fit no problem

3) for no wheel well gap use H&R springs.... 1.4" lowering (pic at bottom)

4) if you want a little trick you can get a greddy front lip or some side skirts! the greddy lip runs $150 w/o paint and skirt prices range widely... i'd think L-Tuned for the skirts(from lexus)

5) for some more cheap mods you can turn your grille to chrome for FREE!! read up on DIY chrome grilles! maybe exhaust tips??

so to your budget:

1. get some used dubs for like $2500
2. get some H&R springs for $300
3. get a greddy front lip spoilier or skirts for a few bills
4. get a new grille from rmm for $215
5. chrome your grille for $10
6. exhaust tips for $100 (foer the pair)

after all that you would have a pretty sick lookin ride!! u'd even have some money left over for a little stereo install!! then we can really talk!!
