Default Whining Noise

Hey Everyone,

I've got a GS430 with 97k on her and she whines when I start the car and drive. I searched CL and found this:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hlight=Whining

Is there anything else this could be besides a loose tensioner, etc.? Is this normal for these cars with over 90k? I'm going to the dealer this weekend for service to do a once over however I'd like some feedback from you guys before they try to stiff me.

Thanks!

When was the last time the belt was replaced?

Also what year is your car?

I'm not sure when the last time the belt was replaced because I just bought this. The year of my car is 2002.

Whining noise when you accelerate? Does the whining increase accordingly to increased throttle use?

Do you have any aftermarket audio equipment? Check your alternator, any faulty ground wires, or interfering RCA's. Could be your stock head unit as well.

Did you check the brakes? The brakes make a whining noise when new pads are needed.

I'm running the stock radio.

Definately not the brakes as the noise comes from the engine bay.

It does sound like it's coming from the front of the engine bay. There's a master lexus technician around here, I'll bring it to him instead of the dealer. Thanks guys!!!!
