Got 18's but will prefer to get 20's they look way better with stretched tires and way more VIP, lol heres a pick of what it looks like on my car, (note tires in the back are 275/35/18 they were upgraded to 285/35/18 which looked better)....
I have 18" by 8.5" wide running 245/40 -18 Michelin PS2 tires. I DRIVE this car (at least 25,000 miles a year) and I want the comfort and security of a slightly higher profile tire. Afraid 19's or bigger would be too harsh and prone to bending rims. I go through a set of tires in a year or less, so we're already talking a thousand bucks (currently $1052 for a set on Tire Rack) a year in tires. I tried other tires but just wasn't satisfied with the handling or the ride so I'm sticking with the Michelins. The same tire in 19" is $1304 for a set of 4.Anyone know how 19s wear compared to 18s? I'm betting faster tire wear because the stiffer sidewall makes them scrub more.
This has to be the best perspective on the wheel size debate and not just because I agree. For the best performance and ride characteristics 18's are the best, anything more than that you're going to tinker for ever trying to find the ride you bought the GS for originally.
I might be a noob, but here my perspective.
Most of the people on this site seem to fit two categories, VIP style or performance. The VIP's tend to like the 19's, lots of chrome, and making those whips REALLY look as classy as the are. If that's you 19's or 20's are the deal. I'm in the performance category. I would rather have my car handle like a bimmer with a lower profile, outstanding handling, tint, style, and some gitty up. 18 is as big as I would go.
