Actually, down in the south...we don't needa do a 50/50 mix. A 25/75 or 30/70 mix is sufficient. The less coolant in the system, the better ability the system will be able to get rid of heat. I believe a 30/70 mix should be able to hold good to around 0F or so. The chemicals in coolant make it harder to freeze but it also decreased the thermal conductivity. I know we never see those temperatures here in Texas so I made the tradeoff. Less coolant in the system for better cooling. Sounds kinda contradicting but thats how it is lol.

^coolant protects against corrosion too. my car has 50/50 and my temp gauge NEVER moves above the just less than half way mark, even in 100 degree weather.

if a car runs hot with a 50/50 mix, there are other problems.
