Buying a GS 300
It's funny that 76k miles is considered high for a BMW while the same milage is barely breaking in for Lexus. My plan is the sell my GS4 next year and get an E46 M3, then I thought to myself "This car is paid off and has ZERO problems, why am I getting rid of it for problematic car?". Maybe I can have both and drive the Lexus when the BMW is getting repaired.
'nuff said...btw I did recently buy a 94 E36 it had 79,000 on it, 5 speed, in excellent condition, real fun to drive. I do all or most of my mechanical work, so i'm not TOO worried about reliability issues unless its broken more than its in use...lol
I have an 01 GS300 with 55k miles on it.
Basically flawless, had to have a new passenger side window seal, replaced one headlight with moisture in it-both under warranty.
Did have a strange issue, not Lexus related, but the battery conection got loose and it felt like transmission packing up, car would hesitate because loosing battery for a moment. Screwed it down and no more problems.
Not as quick as your BMW, but probably a lot more reliable.

Lexus has better reliability, however, it's not a driver's car like a BMW. If you are all about comfort and Sealy ride go with the GS... if not I'd look elsewhere or maybe even trade for a new BMW.
Hey guys, I'm new here and was wondering about prices of '01 GS300's. Specifically, my son is looking at one w/ 111k miles and the dealer is being a bit vague about the price. It is due in on a truck from AZ today, and I have no idea what to expect. Any advice for this newbie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

This will definitely a DD driver because I have a 300zx as my weekend car, I just wanted something more reliable than the BMW. If I do mod it, it will be just tasteful mods, sound system? LS rims? It already has tint. Plus I can get that one at a very good price. Is 76k a lot for a GS300?
Regarding reliability, I'm twice as old as you are (145k-no problems at all besides the temptation with this forum
) but sockfocks make us all look like infants:Good luck.
