What LED bulb should I use for Sonar LED tailights?
Hey guys, I finally realized how pathetic the light output of the chrome amber turn signal bulbs that come with the Sonar tails actually is in the daytime. I was almost rear-ended the other day because the other driver couldn't see my chrome amber bulb "blinking." I know there are members who have changed that crappy bulb to an amber LED bulb.
My questions are:
1) Should I get the regular kind or "refractor" type?
2) Since these are aftermarket tails, is the bulb # still 7440 or a different one?
JeffTsai mentioned that he actually might have used 1156 bulbs for the rear turn signals on his Sonar tails. Can anyone clarify?

Hey don't use the LED stuff. It's simply not bright enough. If you think the chrome bulb is dim, you will laugh at a LED's output. Just use the silverstars I told you about.
The only LED that can come close to a normal bulb would be a Luxeon Star. They are very expensive LED's and are not used in any of the pre-built LED products you can buy. Just to clarify, A 3w Luxeon Star is as bright as about 40-50 standard LED's. You need at least 3 Luxeon stars and a complex system to diffuse the light correctly to match the output of a single silverstar bulb. Trust me I've tried many combos. Just stick with a normal bulb To use LED's as a blinker requires a complex design and more powerful LED's. This is why even most new cars with OEM LED tail lights still use standard bulbs for blinkers.
