What are you guys paying for insurace on your GS?
Im looking into getting a GS im selling my integra and im looking to pay somewhere in the 19k price range.....
well tonight i was talking to my friend and the subject of monthly payments came out im planning on putting a hefty down paymet (6-7k) range hoping to get it down in the mid to low $200's
then i began looking at insurance for the GS and my quotes are like 2-300 dollars a month
this is gonna come to a total of like 500-600 a month for insurance and payment
i make about $22/hr but can only work 16 hours a week cause of school
but my question is are you guys paying this much or am i just getting raped
im 21 years old with 1 point
is there anything i can do to lower my insurance rate?

I think mine is about $700 for the entire year. My GS is a 98 though and I'm 40 and married, lol.
You can set your sights on a well cared for earlier-year GS. The money you save will let you put a higher % down for the car up front and should get you a good cut in your insurance as well due to the lower car value.

so if will the 7k be good enough?
i mean im looking finance about 10k will that help put a dent in the insurance?
because even when inputed my moms information into the website the rate was still $1100 and my mom has had a liscence for 20+years with no tickets!!!!!
but i will be calling in insurace agent tommorw and see what a realistic figure would be?

Check Wawanesa rates, but put your mom as a primary driver and yourself as an occasional driver. I just insured there my new BMW 335i for $140/month.
As for my Lexus, I pay $135/month for full coverage at 21st Century, but it's a '99 GS, and I'm 33 and married.

When I first purchased my 98 GS400 (2003), I went with AAA and they quoted me $1900 every 6 months , so instead I had my grandfather as the primary driver and I was second driver, and the rate went down to 1100. Now I just purchased an 03 MB SL55 and I am the primary driver listed and I am paying less then the GS, $1015 every 6 months. I can't wait until September, I'll be 25 and the rates will drop!

damn u guys are lucky
My car is about $200 a year for insurance. But that's just for liability...
I pay over $2000 a year luxury tax just for having a 3000cc car. This is in Taiwan, but I'm speaking USA money here.
In Vancouver I was paying $1400 CDN / year on my delsol, perfect driving record for 11 yrs straight, and then one at-fault because the car in front's license plate fell off, jammed my wheel well, and at the time I was doing 100 on a freeway... so yah. Didn't hit anybody else, didn't even impact the car in any way at all, but shaved the front bumper off drifting sideways. So, when I moved to Toronto, guess what my insurance quote went up to? $7900 per year. I kid you not. With an amazing corporate insurance rate, I got it down to $2950 / year and I was seriously happy.
Anyways. You guys are lucky.

i pay around 800/year, liberty mutual, full coverage 99 gs400. the agent explained to me that the GS has a class rating that puts it amongst performance cars (forget which rating that was). that plus your age means you're screwed.
