i have over 70k mi now, and my tb was pretty bad. you could actually scoop the crud around the throttle plate with your finger

3 of those holes in my tb were completely blocked. at first the mechanic thought it might be carbon, but a jet from an air nozzle didn't do a thing, and he had to resort to using a cleaner again.

Just curious, H. What makes you think that it might not be okay to clean out the holes without taking the whole thing apart?

I dont really know. Possibly because when you blast the black gunk in the TB, it might fall into the intake manifold. The engine probably wont have trouble burning it, but who knows. My throttle body was dirty anyways so I cleaned it up.

My idle is smoothher now. No more does the engine sound unbalanced. It use to have this weird noise at idle as if one cylinder was gone. After having this cleaned out, the engine sounds like music to my ears

Interesting. I recently had my throttle body cleaned out. I wonder if they cleaned the holes under the plate. I may have to check that out. Is it me, or do those two screws not look like standard screws?
