Question weird noise when braking??

sup yall,

i have been hearing a weird grinding, rubbing noise from my brakes during the past few days. it only happens when i come to a complete stop and full press on the brake pedal right before i need the car to completely stop.

seems to be coming from the drivers side, can't tell if its front or rear.

what are your thoughts? could it be the pads? rotors? anyone else experience this?

i don't think its the front pads cuz i just had them replaced w/ OEM pads a few months ago.

also, i keep hearing something turning on and off when i drive. the sound is coming from the front axle. is it the abs or ac condensor? it happens frequently. i hear it turn on, buzz's for a few seconds, then i can hear it shut off. is this normal?

thanks in advance for your help.

the on and off thing is probably the vsc. turn it off and see if you still hear it

grinding noise? what kind of pads did you use? the ebc green stuff is pretty rough on the rotors. bananags recommends hawk pads, and you can get them from tirerack.

ok i'll try to turn off the vsc once the weather gets nicer, to see if i still hear the on/off buzzing noise.

as for the pads, the fronts are OEM pads i bought from the lexus dealer. i have no idea whta the rear pads are, since i bought the car used. my guess is that it is some aftermkt brand.

i looked at the rear rotors today. the drivers side looks a little different than the passenger side. the drivers side rotor seems to have a really rough edge at towards the outter edge of the rotor. the pass. side looks smooth all around.

i am goin to assume this is the culprit of the grinding/rubbing noise when braking.

is this a correct assumption?

prob need to get new rear pads and/or resurface the rear rotor too.

The noise may be the same one I was having.
The Brake Fit Kit and the Brake Shim Kit may be going bad.
Buy them switch them out. Golden.

I had the same problem. Only occured when I'm almost stopped with brake pedal still pressed. Started to occur after I took my car in for a brake job at the dealer. Further analysis shown the shim kit was loose on one side; they tighted things up and it was ok.
