Question about radar protection?
I had the chip protection ( invinca-shield ) put on the full front of the car. It was put on the bumper, front of hood and roof, mirrors and windshield posts. I just came back from a 1200 mile round trip and I was wondering if having the front of the car covered in this film would have any benefits as far as cutting down my radar image. I can remember years ago they use to sell car bras for 911s that were suppose to absorb most of the radar signal coming at you. I don't know if they worked.
I don't have a front license plate and I know that helps as far as lasar detection. I have a good radar detector and I figure if this film were to cut my image by 10% I would have a few more seconds to scrub off some speed.

T - One benefit of doing the local "ryde along" program is that I get to play with the radar guns ( & carry my Glock legally!!
). I've even gotten my State Trooper friends to experiment with radar absorbers, jammers & diffusers & can tell ya that NOTHING we've used had SIGNIFICANTLY reduced your exposure/protection to the latest high tech radar. First of all, the old Porsche bras didn't work - radar absorbing material is currently the exclusive domain of the military - Stealth fighter, Mr. Bin Laden!!
). The radar jammer called the "Phantom" has some potential but don't see many of those around here - one of our Members has one which he swears by. The license plate diffusers were proven by Car & Driver to be useless as well. Best advice I can give is to purchase a good detector ( Valentine One; BEL or Cincinnati Microwave come to mind ); be aware of your surroundings & don't be the Lone Ranger who stands out from the pack. Just match your speed with surrounding traffic & be aware that if U're quick enough to react when your detector goes off, U can typically scrub 5-8 mph off before the radar locks on. When the cop sees your nose dip because of the braking, he's more likely to pull ya over but the mph reduction can make the difference in the cost of the fine. Drive carefully!!

Gene, as I recall, C&D also tested some of the jammers, also took them apart on the bench. Results: all were junk, none worked. Really good profit margin for the mfgr tho. And, as we all know, laser detection should be renamed "Ticket announcer". Fortunately, they aren't too popular.
If you get a ticket due to radar, buy, or get your hands on the training manual for the particular radar the officer was using, it will make VERY interesting reading, infinite range, etc.
Get the officer into court and grill him on some of the radar flaws, the many ways he can be decieved by false readings, pointed out in the very manual he was trained with. 10 to 1 the wont know what you're talking about and the judge will throw him out of his court.

I got a Valentine One .. it hasn't saved my butt yet .. but came with the GS400 that I purchased.
I've used Escort Passport before and they seemed to announce pretty good. But like the last post mentions ... any extra time to bring that speed back down helps.
It could be the difference between um ... 110 and 85. Hmmm.. nevermind.
