Wear And Tear on GS 400
Hi there.
my car have some wears already on some parts that I've replaced, but the part that I'm surprise is the HID light. the passanger side of the Light went out last night. I thought HID supposed to last forever.
anyway, the other wear parts also
1. passanger automatic door lock doesn't work anymore, have to replace
2. control arm had some excessive wears (replaced)
3. shocks/struts replaced with H&R (lowered)
tire wear because of lowered. (any suggestion on reducing the wear on the tire)
4. obviously the seat starts to crack, any suggestion on seat replacement?
5. replaced rotors 3rd time (brembo slot drilled)
6. going to lexus dealer to purchase new HID light (* *)
Cheers

You should do a search in the classifieds section for the HID D2R bulb. I got a brand new set for a smokin deal and received it in 3-4 days. I was quoted $268 per bulb from a Toyota dealership so I imagine a couple hundred more from Lexus.
That does sound like a lot of wear and tear though.

as for your questions...
1. i'm guessing door lock actuator? you're not alone... plenty of us here have the same problem
2. the bushings in the front arms tend to go bad around 60k mi, if not sooner depending on road and driving conditions. a lot of us go with http://www.daizentuning.com hardware.
3. tire wear... check your alignment. or, if your car is excessively low, try and correct your camber to be as close to max. allowable neg. spec. as possible.
4. http://www.leatherseats.com for new covers.
5. gs is heavy... it will wear out the rotors pretty fast, unless you're using a really harsh brake pad compound.
6. HID bulbs last longer than conventional, but they definitely do NOT last forever... like someone already mentioned, do a search... you can get the bulbs for much cheaper.
