Hi guys, I have a 98 GS400. Recently I noticed what appeared to be smoke or possibly vapour coming out of the drivers side air conditioning vent when the a/c was on. I thought it might be some kind of condensation...this was earlier this week. Yesterday I noticed lots of condensation on the floor under the glove compartment. Later that day the smoke/vapour problem happened again. It doesn't happen all the time, comes and goes. Also before (like past few weeks) a few times i heard rattling/whistling from the glove box when the a/c was on, I know the a/c filter is located here. DOes anyone have the link to that thread that shows you how to remove and clean the filter? Thanks a lot.

 

Open the glove box and look for the panel to remove. Its pretty obvious.
I doubt that it's caused by the air filter though. Sounds like you have other issues.
