need some tips for a 7hr drive.
A passenger or two (no backseat drivers). If your alone, have that music with you. When we drove through N. Carolina on I-95 last year it was boring. It can put you to sleep especially at night. In fact, you may wanna also include rest too.
Check your tires/fluids/wax the front of the car and the little portion between windshield and moonroof.
Stop in Harris Ranch for a meal, and maybe a gas station to fill up and stretch your legs.
Two stops along the way should be enough, and just be careful in the grapevine and once you're in LA. Cops have been out in full force in recent days.

Don't forget to take a leak before you leave.
But seriuosly, some of you guys are overly protective. I've driven to Phoenix, AZ, to Greensville, SC, twice in the last 9 months stopping in Oklahoma for a few hours at a motel (~14 hours each day). And to Branson, MO, in a day each way (19 hours).
The only time I stop is when I have to get gas. And I try to make sure the gas station and fast food joint are in the same exit. Stopping any more than that is annoying to me. Seven hours in a car is nothing.
What would I do?
Got tire pressure?
Got oil in the engine?
Got anti-freeze?
Got brakes?
Got good tires?
Good to go!
I hate not having music, so for me, tunes were an important part of the trip.
A seven hour drive? I doubt I'd even bother thinking twice about anything.
