I remember too, when gas was $.25 and $.35 a gallon back in the 60's when I was a mere wee one.
Oil companies are going to kill the automotive sport. Everyone will be driving battery powered, quiet little pieces of $hiitt. Us V8-driving , noise-making, polluting sports drivers will become outcasts like smokers have become. Extra toll fees, extra taxes, restricted areas like cities, etc etc.

I spent about 45-50 $ fill up my tank. Gas here (Thailand) is pretty much the same there but imagine the country where minimum wage is 4.50$ a day and you can understand how much more expensive it feels.
